III. Letter from Shriya Shah, Co-founder
International Youth Politics Forum Magazine, 2019-2020
Dear Reader,
Eleanor Roosevelt once said, do the things you think you cannot do.
When we set out to establish the International Youth Politics Forum a year ago, we embarked on an unprecedented path. There were times when we faced challenges, yet with each obstacle that came our way we were reminded of the invaluable opportunity we were presented with.
An opportunity to be a part of something greater than ourselves. To enable the leaders and voices of tomorrow and to create a global community that will forever stay with us.
Throughout my time at the IYPF, I have met incredible youth from around the globe, each person unique, yet connected by a common passion for what we do here.
As the Head of Trade & Economics, I have been able to foster an equilibrium between depth and breadth of my own knowledge. To explore niche topics such as Healthcare Economics to the Economics of Reparations to the efficacy of Nudge Theory amidst global pandemics. My column gave me the opportunity to share my personal insight with all of you, to become increasingly aware of the world and come to question the norms we take for granted by virtue of my curiosity.
I am consistently astonished by the dedication & capability of all members of the IYPF and this past year has truly been a rewarding experience. Through our Rights Talks & IMUN events we have been able to expand our reach. To engage in vibrant and meaningful conversations with all of you. Yet with over 200 articles and published and over 50 writers spanning across 14 countries, this is merely the beginning.
I want to thank all of you for being a part of our journey, for encouraging and supporting us. Come fall, the introduction of local Chapters and the expansion of the Forum to post-secondary institutions will be an exciting addition.
As a parting note, I urge you all to continue channeling your voice, to continue to use your power as youth to make tangible change globally and to truly accomplish those very things you think you cannot do.
Sincerely,
Shriya Shah
